Preview of 2011's Warren Miller Ski Film, with Chris Davenport

Tonight I'm off to London's Leicester Square to watch the premier of the new Warren Miller Ski film "Like There's No Tomorrow."  The trailer is one of the best I have ever seen - I can watch it on loop!  The editing and production is top-notch, the soundtrack incredible and the skiing is awe-inspiring; the whole package has been brilliantly but together; no other film has made me want to go skiing more.  And that's just the trailer!  The film itself features a section in New Zealand with my good friend Sam Smoothy and Big Mountain legend Ted Davenport.  Ted's brother, Chris, has a ski mountaineering section in the film in his old stomping ground of Tuckerman Ravine.  Below, I've included a feature about Chris ski-mountaineering the 54 peaks of Colorado over 14,000 ft, and he comes across as a focused, impressive and humble character; I'm looking forward to meeting him at the O2 in December. From watching the trailer and reading the promotional material, I'm rather excited: the cinematography, big mountain lines and freestyle look like a new level in ski film production; beyond the classic stomping grounds of Squaw Valley, Alaska, BC, Colorado and Utah, they visit Norway, Kashmir, New Zealand and Chile; there is an incredible crew of skiers in this film, from all disciplines, bringing a range of styles to the screen.  They also share their thoughts on the philosophy of living life for the mountains - the rewards and inherent risks.

I'm somewhat titillated about watching this film, and I'll be bringing you a full review in the next day or two.  In the meantime, enjoy the incredible trailer from Warren Miller and the feature of Chris.  Read all about Chris and his 54 ski descents of all the 14 Thousanders in Colorado on his website and read about Warren Miller and the film over on their website.
